ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – While the Lobo football team won just four games last season, one of the bright spots around UNM was the running back group. Even with the team’s departure, Zachary Croskey Merritt, new head coach Bronco Mendenhall said is the team’s deepest running back this offseason.

The Lobos are led by their second leading rusher of 2023, Andrew “Dola” Henry. The super-senior actually started 2023 as the team’s main back in training camp before suffering multiple injuries. Now, Henry is joined in the backfield by Iowa State transfer Eli Sanders and Arizona State transfer Javen Jacobs.

“Everybody in the room competes really hard, wants to compete every day and every day we push each other to be better in the classroom, on and off the field,” Sanders said.

Other running backs currently listed include Ray Ey, Jaylen Morgan and Josh Perry.

UNM spring practice runs through April 27 and all practices are closed to the public. The Lobos spring game opens to the public on Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m
