Zoe’s Friday afternoon forecast

An absolutely gorgeous, spring-like weekend is in store Finally looks like what it should be like for this time of year in New Mexico, if not a few degrees above average. Gales will pick up this afternoon and last through tomorrow. Gusts will be 25-45+ across the state, coming from the west and moving into dry air. This creates a high fire danger across eastern New Mexico and the central RGV, causing a red flag warning to be in effect at 7pm tonight.

More red flag warnings will be reissued Saturday across northeastern New Mexico and the central RGV due to gusty winds, dry air and above average temperatures. Highs will be near average Sunday as a storm approaches the state and really whips up winds across New Mexico. There will be widespread gusts of 45-60 mph – be sure to secure any loose outdoor items for your Easter Sunday and make sure your Easter eggs don’t blow away!

A cold front will reach western New Mexico Sunday afternoon and evening, bringing high elevation snow and valley rain. Precipitation will spread eastward across the state with more rain/snow likely throughout the day into Monday. A backdoor arrival on Tuesday will keep snow and rain chances across northeastern New Mexico. Dry and warm weather will arrive mid to late next week.
