ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A BNSF freight train carrying corn derailed near Socorro Monday night around 10 p.m. BNSF crews are working to clear the derailment site.
Officials say there were no injuries or danger to the public as hazardous materials were not released. The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation. KRQE News 13 spoke with a homeowner in the area of the derailment. The home owner said they heard a lot of loud screeching which is unusually loud for trains that usually pass by.
