Thursday in New Mexico will be much milder with light winds

Thursday morning was cool, clear and quiet across New Mexico. Temperatures will start in the 20s and 30s, warming to the 60s and 70s this afternoon. Temperatures will be much warmer than Wednesday and again warmer than normal

Skies will be mostly sunny, with high cirrus clouds crossing the sky. Winds will be around 20 to 35 mph. There will be more wind on Friday, especially across eastern NM, where there will also be a high fire risk. Temperatures will rise further on Friday. The next cyclone will bring gale force winds to the state as it approaches. The windiest will be Sunday with gusts up to 40 mph. Rain and snow will move into western NM on Sunday, and the rest of the state on Monday.
