(1) Albuquerque Police Warns of Increase in Guns Stolen from Vehicles – APD says they are seeing an increase in firearm thefts from vehicles stolen during auto thefts. In January and February of this year, APD says 47 firearms were taken. As the weather warms, officials believe the trend will worsen. APD is reminding people that if you leave your weapons in your vehicle, keep it concealed and lock it. Police say in many cases those stolen guns are used in violent crimes.
(2) Funeral Service Details for Fallen NMSP Officer Justin Hare – A funeral and mass will be held in the Albuquerque metro area on Wednesday for fallen NMSP Officer Justin Hare. Hare, 32, was shot and killed in the line of duty on March 15. The funeral procession begins at 9:30 a.m. from Daniels Funeral Home in Rio Rancho and ends at Legacy Church near Central between Coors and Anser. Funeral Mass will begin at 11 am at Legacy Church. The public is invited to watch the procession and attend the funeral. Services will be live-streamed New Mexico State Police YouTube Channel.
(3) DRY AND WARM WEATHER AROUND NEW MEXICO – The snow will end today, but the northeastern highlands and far east-central plains may experience showers and storms this afternoon and evening. Rest of the state will remain sunny and dry throughout the day. Temperatures will be warmer than Tuesday, but still cooler than normal, climbing into the 50s and 60s. Thursday will be a completely dry day, with mostly to partly sunny skies and even warmer temperatures
(4) APD highlights dozens of arrests during Central Ave operation – APD says it’s making progress cleaning up crime hotspots along Central Ave, with recent operations going after guns and drugs. Chief Harold Medina said they began targeting Central in January after an officer was shot at Adam’s Food Market near Central and Pennsylvania in December. APD said it made 28 felony arrests and cleared 24 felony warrants including robbery, child abuse, theft and trafficking. Chief Medina said he is expanding the operation to Maine and Louisiana.
(5) New Food Items Revealed at Isotopes Park Ahead of 2024 Season – The Albuquerque Isotopes have unveiled their new concession items for the upcoming 2024 season. The new items will be available starting Friday night, March 29 New items this year include beef brisket with green chile mac and cheese on a green chile bagel, a Hawaiian barbecue turkey leg, sweet pork on a burger and a vegetarian fusion bowl. With plant-based pork protein.
