Harlingen, Texas (Valley Central) — Texas wildflower season is here, bringing nature’s vivid and vibrant colors across the Lone Star State.
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, the official botanical garden and arboretum of Texas, predicts that 2024 will be a great year for full blooms.
The bluebonnet, also known as the Texas state flower, is one of the many wildflowers that signal that spring has sprung.
“On a scale of one to 10, this year looks like it could be an eight, especially for bluebonnets, if not better,” said Andrea DeLong-Amaya, director of horticulture at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
DeLong-Amaya credits the massive wildflower blooms to weather events occurring in 2023.
“This fall and winter we enjoyed adequate rainfall that was well spaced, which is really key for wildflower development,” continued DeLong-Amaya.
